Good Architect · Bushwalks
These are bushwalks with beautiful camping sites, from small beginner ones like Little Beach and Tallow Beach that you can do with kids, to multiday hikes like Upper Mangrove to Wiseman's Ferry.
Heading out for a multiday hike? Here is a guide to what to pack for a Multi Day Hike, and a guide for planning a multi day hike.
We also have a guide to Wildflowers on the Central Coast because there are so many stunning flowers in the bush here.
A beautiful little walk and a great place for an overnight camp with only a short walk in. Seven campsites, a composting toilet, a free BBQ and even bins. Wonderful with young families. Book through [National Parks](https://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/camping-and-accommodation/campgrounds/little-beach-campground).
The walks
A rainforest walk with many ferns, small caves and green walls. Up 90m and down 90m, plenty of stairs. The nearby [Gap Creek Falls campground](https://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/camping-and-accommodation/campgrounds/gap-creek-campground) is a quiet base for the night.
A great place to watch sunrise, with lovely little beaches and camping spots. Pretty steep, all down and back up, so a good walk to improve your fitness. Book through [National Parks](https://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/camping-and-accommodation/campgrounds/tallow-beach-campground).
One of my favourite swimming spots. An hour's walk in and you are in the water with a stunning waterfall. Up 120m and down 120m, mostly firetrail, just the right temperature for a swim.
A long firetrail walk to find the caves. Plenty of rainforest and elevation gain, great for getting fit. Finding the caves themselves is a bushbash, so let someone know your plan and allow a half day.
One of my favourite walks on the coast. Stunning water views throughout, you feel like you have the peninsula to yourself. Tank Cove and the waterfall there are beautiful.
A great short walk to do at sunset, with beautiful 360 degree views of the Central Coast. The coast's only proper mountain walk, mostly firetrail, so pick a cooler day.

The book
A Cornucopia of Central Coast Walks lists 11 walks with campsites, from Little Beach in Bouddi to Upper Mangrove to Wisemans Ferry. It also has my guide to planning a multi day hike and the list I pack for a night out.

A picture book
Camping with little ones means a bush toilet. The Bush Wee is my read aloud picture book for children aged 2 to 7, and it teaches the real skills: which soft leaves make good toilet paper, which stinging leaves to stay away from, and why your bum should point downwind and downhill.
