How do I find the width of a property in NSW?

Why does it matter how wide the property is?

Width is often the control that decides whether a project is possible at all. If you are planning something like a dual occupancy, there is usually a minimum site width to meet before the complying development pathway is open to you, so it is worth having an accurate number before you commit to anything. The NSW land values and property sales map gives you the width and the rest of the block's dimensions for free.

How to find the width of a property NSW?

1. Click on the Land Values and Property Sales Map here.

   

2. Zoom in the address that you are looking at and click on the dollar symbol.

This will bring up some key information including Property Number and Site Area.

Copy the Property Number below and then click here to get more detailed information using the property ID

Paste the property ID in here and tick that you are not a robot.

This will give you more detailed information, including site area and the dimensions if it is an orthogonal block:

Note that the dimensions only come out cleanly on an orthogonal block. On a battleaxe, a corner splay or a curved frontage you will need a surveyor to get the real numbers, and council will want a survey with the DA anyway.
