Start Point

Lyre Trig, Heiroglyphs and Guardian Tree Loop (3km)

This 3km loop walk on the Central Coast takes you through peaceful bushland to three unique landmarks: Lyre Trig lookout with expansive views, the mysterious Kariong Hieroglyphs hidden in a sandstone cleft, and the towering Guardian Tree, an ancient angophora exudes peace. It’s a walk rich in natural beauty and local legend, perfect for a short adventure with a mix of views and quiet reflection. 

Elevation change: Up 80m, Down 110m

  1. Start / End Point: -33.452081416198546, 151.29129606310485

  2. Turn left a a stump, head up the hill along a path, bit hard to find: -33.45411,151.29931

  3. Yay! You've reached the Lyre Trig point: -33.45153,151.29900

  4. Walk a little along Lyre Trig Road the turn right, there are a few false starts so if it peters out go back to the road and head a little further: -33.45116,151.29961

  5. Yay! You've reached the Heiroglyphs and Guardian Tree, also known as the Grandmother Tree and Grandfather Tree: -33.45126,151.30266

  6. Turn right to head back along Bambina Road: -33.45215,151.30329

  7. Keep right back along Bambina road: -33.45426, 151.30107
